1. Reviews candidate resumes to select promising candidates for hire. 2. Assists in conducting on-site interviews and tours of the facility. 3. Assists with the in-processing and orientation of new physicians. 4. Responsible for ensuring compliance with educational, training and CME requirements under the Client contract. 5. Examine all eligible beneficiaries for emergency medical care to render a medical assessment of their condition, and to take appropriate action. 6. Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency patients as they present themselves for care. When treating urgent and non-urgent patients (and sufficient patients are available in these categories), the physician shall see no less than an average 2.2 patients per hour unless affected by circumstances beyond his/her control. The ER physician(s) on duty is expected to remain aware of the number of patients waiting to be seen, of levels of acuity and of the waiting time to be seen. 7. Patients presenting themselves with non-acute conditions will be triaged and treated in appropriate priority. When necessary, provide emergency care to patients in the holding area. 8. Provide emergency medical care to both inpatients and outpatients, summon appropriate on-call specialist when deemed necessary, and continue medical management until the arrival of the appropriate specialist. 9. Provide definitive medical care to reduce the emergency situation and enable the patient to safely continue care as an outpatient with follow-up care as required. Follow-up of abnormal reports is the responsibility of the ordering physician. However, to assure correct medical follow-up for these patients, all abnormal x-ray and lab reports received on patients seen by the physician shall be reviewed within one week of its receipt in the Emergency Department. 10. Respond to "Code Blue" (Cardiac or Respiratory Arrest) medical emergency alerts within the hospital and provide resuscitation treatment until more specialized treatment arrives. Should resuscitation efforts be unsuccessful, the physician shall pronounce the patient dead, complete necessary records, and notify the next-of-kin, if the next-of-kin is physically present. 11. Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with hospital directives and prepare such reports as may be required by the contract. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible. 12. Respond to staff nurses' request for assistance to the emergency needs of hospitalized patients, to carry out procedures, and for writing orders, until the patient's staff physician arrives. 13. Provide professional advice to emergency room personnel and ward personnel, in emergency situations noted above, with regard to professional management of patients being treated and/or hospitalized. 14. Advise the QAE of any problems encountered, or anticipated, in connection with meeting the needs of patients treated by the contract physician. 15. The physician shall arrange for a staff physician to assume inpatient care for patients requiring admission. 16. Dispatch and provide medical control for ambulances in accordance with MTF procedures
